Our History

1946

Founded in Brooklyn, NY

In 1946, Electri-Cord Manufacturing Co. opened its doors as a modest power
cord company in Brooklyn, New York.

1963

Headquarter Relocated to Westfield, PA

Jerry Samuels took over as president in 1963 and moved the company to
Westfield, Pennsylvania, where it grew into a leading supplier of power cords
for the medical industry.

1997

A Family Business - Purchased by Mitch Samuels

Preserving the legacy of a family-owned business, Jerry’s son Mitch Samuels
bought Electri-Cord Manufacturing from Leucadia in 1997. He quickly learned
the electronics manufacturing services industry and knew it was important to
begin building long-term, trust-based relationships with clients.

1999

Strategic Alliance Formed With I-Sheng

Electri-Cord forms a strategic alliance with global power cord manufacturer I-Sheng, headquartered in Taiwan, with facilities in China, Vietnam, and Brazil.

2000

Manufacturing Facility in Guadalajara Mexico

In 2000, Electri-Cord Manufacturing invested a lot of effort into networking,
leading to the establishment of its 78K Sq Ft manufacturing factory in Guadalajara, Mexico.

2004

Expansion Through Acquisition

Under Mitch's leadership, Electri-Cord Manufacturing underwent a period of rapid expansion by executing five strategic acquisitions, which included ECW, Power Cabling, Black Electric, Berquist Cord division, and Berquist EAB.

2020

Growth of Manufacturing Facilities

Expanded our facilities in the US and MX. The Westfield, PA facility added a 10K Sq Ft Warehouse. The Guadalajara facility moved into a new 90K Sq Ft Manufacturing Facility within the same industrial park to expand our capacities.

2024

A Modern Rebrand

Today, ECM has evolved from a power cord manufacturing company to a
major supplier of wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and high-level
assemblies for some of the largest corporations in the world. As we continue to seek out strategic relations with global partners, each new opportunity brings additional core capabilities and competitive advantages that enable us to better power your connections.
